McAfee V7 Removal.

Download the McAfee Removal tools by clicking here.
Download Avast Antivirus V5 Free home edition from the Avast web site or from here.
Unzip the Removal Tools and the Avast file to your hard drive and remember where you saved them.
Open the Control Panel and select Add or Remove Programs.
Double click the McAfee entry to uninstall McAfee Professional.
You will be asked to restart your computer, answer No.
Run the VSCleanupTool.exe file from the McAfee Removal Tools. The program is set to run a Command Prompt routine at the start of the next minute so be patient if it seems not to work. When finished it will ask you to restart. Type N for No.
Now run the McAfee 2007 Removal Tool-MCPR.exe file from the McAfee Removal Tools. The program is also set to run a Command Prompt routine at the start of the next minute so be patient if it seems not to work. When finished it will ask you to restart. Type Y for Yes and your PC will Restart.

McAfee will now be fully removed from your PC ready for Avast to be installed.

Installing Avast V5

Run the Avast installation file you downloaded earlier
Click the Next button to accept English language
Un-check 'Participate in the Avast! community' to avoid emails etc
Put a check in 'Custom installation'
Then click the NEXT button to accept installation folder
Click the CUSTOM icon in the left column and uncheck the Behaviour Shield item on the right column.
Click the Next button.
On the next screen you are asked whether you want to install the Google Chrome browser. This is a web browser alternative to Internet explorer. We would recommend that you not install this.
Click the NEXT button and then the next NEXT button to begin installation.
You will be asked to restart your PC. Do this and once rebooted register for the free home edition.
Avast will automatically update daily.
